Accutane (isotretinoin) is a powerful medication used to treat severe acne. It is highly effective but comes with specific guidelines and potential side effects that must be managed carefully.
Before Starting Accutane

Schedule a detailed consultation with your DAWC dermatologist to discuss the benefits and risks of Accutane.

Pregnancy Prevention:

Women of childbearing potential must use two forms of effective contraception for at least one month before starting Accutane, during treatment, and for one month after stopping the medication.

Monthly pregnancy tests are required before, during, and after treatment.

Blood tests to check liver function, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.

Baseline skin examination and photographs to document acne severity.

During Treatment
